After the first phase of rebuilding the public could visit Splengler Hotel on Friday and Saturday. The keys have been officially handed on Thursday.

The official handover of the keys on Thursday evening, as well as two open days officially concluded the first construction phase of the Spengler hotel . It is amazing what the reconstruction has brought out from the building formerly called Alexanderhaus. But the Building services are not finished yet.

The 4-stars hotel was launched last Thursday in its test phase. On 16th and 17th December the community was invited to the open day to see the Spengler’s Hotel Davos with their own eyes. The opportunity was actively used. Especially the new restaurant on the ground floor, the roof top bar “Level 5” high above the roofs of Davos and the Alexanderhauskapelle, that has remained virtually unchanged and been modernized gently.

Mayor Tarzisius Caviezel conveyed the congratulations of the municipality and congratulated the present owners to the successful first part of the large and ambitious construction project. He expressed the wish to cooperate with the hotel as with a partner, that is not waiting for the guests, but actively advertising not only itself but also the travelling destination. Director Dagmar Weber promised that hotels actions would meet mayors wishes. And Roger Manser, head of marketing and communication of the destination Davos Klosters, spoke regarding the bar «Level 5», as well as the chapel of two new Davos lighthouses that had plenty of potential.

All hollowed out

The former Alexanderhaus has been redesigned from the ground up: the building has been hollowed out till the foundations, the rooms were newly designed and the belonging to the House chapel has been stylishly restored. Thereby encountered some surprises, that brought no time delays, explained Dagmar Weber on request.

The rooms now look quite different and offer much more space. According to the price category, you benefit from the advantage to have the tub right next to the bed. From the «level 5» bar you can enjoy a unique panoramic view over the landscapes of Davos. The restaurant on the ground floor as well as the Chapel are multifunctional, they suit for family reunions as well as for public events such as concerts or exhibitions. What stretches through the whole building: modernity mixed with history to create a unique blend.

Following conversion stages

All stages are completed, the Spengler’s will include 80 rooms with sophisticated equipment, as well as 31 apartments, which are available under the management of Holsboer residences. In addition to this there is a comprehensive wellness complex. It is planned that the total construction project will be completed in 2017 in the third quarter, as stated in a media release. Restaurant, bars, and rooms are however available now for visits or overnight stays, as Dagmar Weber explained.
